Since my old guide on how to install FreeBSD Root on ZFS using GPT is soon going to be all but unusable, I have decided to do a remix of the guide for the new BSDInstall1 versions of FreeBSD. Being that this is going to be a newer rendition of my older guide most of the introductory discussion will be left out. See the older guide if you wish to read this.

The following is how to install FreeBSD Root on ZFS using GPT. This will offer redundancy and scaling of performance (with additional drives) for you to base your system off of while maintaining efficiency of disk usage. This guide is mainly suited for workstations, home file servers, and media center PCs. It is setup for use with FreeBSD 8 / 9 and was directly tested with 9.0-CURRENT-201101-amd64 inside of a virtual machine.

As you may have noticed I have converted my site into a blog in addition to being a repository for FreeBSD information. This is in part due to discussions with some friends and colleagues about the couple HOWTOs I had posted on my site. I have since decided that I will start sharing more of my personal FreeBSD experience and findings.
As most of the work in designing the new website is now completed, I have shifted my focus to compiling and releasing more on FreeBSD. As far as topics I have decided to start off the first couple with beginning level guides.
